This milestone of graduation brings excitement, nostalgia (and a bit of pressure). You may have questions such as "How much? When do we do this? What's involved? Why Calotype?" 

Let me answer your questions!

How Long Does It Take for Portraits?

A basic Studio Session takes about 30 minutes. After you have portraits taken, you'll come back within a week (sometimes same-day) to view and order your portraits. Digital downloads are ready upon payment.

What Should My Senior Wear?

One outfit they choose, and one outfit you choose. No matter your style preferences, I believe both parent and teen have a unique perspective on themselves that will reflect in their outfit choice. If you have specific concerns, I'll address it in our consultation.

Will My Teen Be Awkward in the Studio?

Maybe. :) A lot of ordinary people are! But it's my job to work through insecurities to pull out a bit of their personality. Everyone has at least one attractive feature (young people usually have MANY) and I will highlight it- don't worry!

What’s Everyone Else Doing?

Most of my HS seniors are photographed in the fall/winter part of the school year. They usually do two outfits and many of them include their family for a few pictures in the studio. Most go on to purchase a 20 image album once they see (and love) their portraits.

Can We Get Both Traditional and Creative Photos?

Of course. I love the classics and pride myself on creating timeless portraits. However, I'm easily bored and my brain fires constantly with new and creative ideas. I can't wait to try them out on new victims! I mean CLIENTS. Yes, yes- that's what I mean.

How Do We Pick the Best Photos?

We’ll meet in my studio a few days after the session. I’ll project the images on a big screen, and we’ll choose your favorites together. Purchased digital images go home with you that day.

What If My Kid Doesn’t Like Them?

Because we talked beforehand and I've listened carefully to your concerns, the images always turn out better than expected! The only way we can have a misunderstanding is if a primary decision maker doesn't communicate with me.

How Much Will It Cost?

Senior portraits at Calotype range from 300-1800, depending on whether you choose a basic Studio Session (less money) or outdoor (custom- more money) and how many images you end up purchasing. I'll go over everything in our consultation.

How Much For Senior Portraits?

A Session fee is $175, paid in advance, which is for my creative time photographing your senior in the studio. Images are purchased separately at $95 each, allowing you to choose only the ones you love. Purchase as many or as few as you like. 

There's no addtional charge to bring family in for a few pictures, along with your senior.  The only additional charges are for custom Portrait Sessions outside the studio, such as with a senior's car or an outdoor location requested by you. Those require a phone call and can't be booked online (we need to chat to make sure we're all on the same page!)

Senior Portrait Sessions are available Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Schedule online and pay your Session fee to book. I'll call or email you after scheduling to determine your needs (and pain points, if any).

A Studio Session takes about 30 minutes. We'll collaborate on poses and looks that reflect your style. If something’s not perfect, we’ll refine it together!
