Why Calotype?

There are dozens of aspiring photographers you could call, but Calotype has been in business for 18 years and constantly seeks to make better, more meaningful portraits for their clients.

For the price of taking your family to an amusement park, you can have a much more restful experience with your kids- plus come away with cherished photographs that will last generations.

Some people dread family portraits because children don’t always behave perfectly and not every family may feel “photogenic.” Good news- this is our BUSINESS and we have easy solutions for that! Start by calling the studio and we’ll tell you how we can help!

Meet Julie, the photographer

Born into a creative, out-of-the-box family, Julie enjoys writing in the third-person and tossing a few Easter Eggs into her words just to see if the audience is listening. ;)

After working for several years in her father's long-established portrait studio back in Indiana, Julie decided to take the leap and start her own photography studio in Missouri. She was determined to create a space where clients could feel comfortable and she could bring her artistic vision to life.

Today, Julie's studio is a calm, safe haven full of creativity and inspiration. Whether she's working on first-year baby portraits or helping business professionals feel comfortable for their headshots, Julie brings thoughtfulness to every project she undertakes.

Her work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions, and she has won several awards for her simple, classic photography. But according to Julie-

"My best work has been helping people with insecurities feel great about how they look."

When she's not creating at her studio, you can find Julie homeschooling her four children with the classical method. Honk when you drive by and see them on the front porch. Read Julie’s Journal about life at the studio here.
